This piece is a self-portrait, in which my floating head holds a snake that is eating it’s own tail, a symbol termed ouroboros. The background features a swirling black and white graphic design, creating the sensation of being hypnotized. This drawing symbolizes being mentally stuck in a dark place, which is why the left eye is entirely black, conveying the empty void experienced during a low point in my life. However, below the ouroboros signifies emerging from that dark place in the subconscious and entering a new phase in life. The right eye symbolizes a new beginning as well as it is not all black, but displays liveliness.
