Photographing wild horses is all about waiting for something exciting to happen.  And exciting things do happen, but you have to be looking in the right direction at the right time.  The stallions of the Onaqui north herd often issue little challenges to each other.  Sometimes these challenges result in a big blow up, followed by a tear across the plain as the victor chases down his opponent.  Other times, they simply size each other up, engage in a little dance, and simply go back to grazing… like the horses in this photograph.  This image was shot with a Cannon R5, 100-500mm RF lens.
