I painted this for my son, who loves animals—especially
goats. Nature and mammals inspire me creatively, and as I worked, I reflected
on my three sons and how each goat’s unique traits mirrored their
personalities. I experimented with palette knife scraping for the wood texture
and titled it “The Kids” to reflect both the subject and my thoughts
about my children.
I chose Houdini for the detail image because painting his
hair and eyes was especially enjoyable.
