Hospital Hotspot, a watercolor on Aquabord, depicts the artist’s daughter, in high contrast + shades of blue, from a pediatric oncology room, receiving treatment for cancer while sitting with a laptop to do middle school homework. Warm colors, sparse in the composition, reveal skin and implanted IV lines. The young girl faces cancer with resolve, determination, hope, and strength. The artist recounts the family’s journey through pediatric cancer in a 2019 memoir titled “No Match For Her.”
