Distance Lends Enchantment

This landscape depicts the view out the backdoor of my childhood home. This neighbor was a sharecropper and I knew very little of his experience. As an adult, I’ve realized the significance of a remark made by another neighbor about this scene. She said “distance lends enchantment.”
