Welcome Home

Regina Bos

Welcome Home is an investigation/journey into the construction and deconstruction of layers and appearances in order to explore the constant growing, building, deconstructing and reconstructing of our selves, our relationships, our world. We are left with a repeating song that is alsolike a labyrinth.

Welcome Home was inspired by paper wasp nests and built from a fiber interfacing materialI stained with walnut ink and vinegar (adding vinegar to the ink created interesting variations of lights and darks). The fabric was then painted with encaustic wax, and two pieces were fused together to create thickness and depth. The pieces and holes were burned with a wood-burning tool. The sheets were mounted on panels using encaustic wax, creating the 3-panel triptych.

As a visual artist, my work explores themes of transformation, growth, and decay, drawing inspiration from the natural world and the cycles of life. I’m drawn to the intricate shapes and patterns found in nature and use these as a starting point for my compositions, creating art that is not only unique and unusual but also unforgettable.
