Silk Flowers

Marcee Musgrove

Ive been dyeing silk for 14 years, I get a lot of scraps left over and utilized them finally to create unique and original Silk flowers.  I purchased the vase for it that already had large leaves to support the idea of them being fully immersed in a natural feeling environment,  There are 19 unique flowers spread throughout the piece both large and small.  Each was cut, glued to wire, then slowly multiple layers were adhered to create imaginary flowers.

Fiber is very personal and close to my heart.  I utilize ready made materials and then using wax formulas set in the patterns as a resist then bit my bit they are dyed then after resting 72 hours they are steamed to insure maximum color outcomes.  It’s very hard for me to throw any silk away as it is such a fabulous fiber so after 14 years I decided to find a use for them and my flowers were born.
