Saturday Sun is a light and ethereal piece but also has a depth which draws the viewer close, evolving warm thoughts. This piece combines paint in varying thickness, with layers of thin paint, to achieve that depth. The color pink may be of first notice, but diving into the green depth to see what is there is what keeps one interested in this piece. Much of my work, including this piece, is derived from my own daily experiences relying on nature around me to restore me, which it does daily. My connection to the trees, water, and ground around me are reflected in my reverence for the natural landscape. I seek to capture that reverence rather than a faithful likeness of anything specific. I paint, most of all, for a feeling of peace.
