“Nothing Stays the Same XII” is one quilt in a series that have been inspired by torii gates seen at shrines in Japan as a child and derelict piers and pilings seen along southern coasts as an adult. The title reminds me that an object changes over time, memories of that object change, and each new work in a series changes from the earlier interpretations.

It is constructed in the manner of a traditional quilt with a pieced top, batting, and backing all sandwiched together by intentionally visible quilting stitches that add another dimension to the quilt’s surface.
