Heart of Fire is a painting of passion personified. The fire on her heart represents passion of love and the poppies represent passion for life. I find her gaze somewhat terrifying as you can lose control of your passion and yourself. It is good to have passion but passion can easily slip into obsession.

I start each piece with an acrylic under painting. This allows me to get a lot of information down on the canvas quickly and allows me to make changes to color and composition easily. Then I go in with the oil paints. I paint mostly allá prima adding glaze layers towards the end if necessary.
