My art is inspired by colors, textures, and shapes in nature. I am drawn to arts involving fiber, including paper as surface or as substance in mixed media and book arts as well as scherenschnitte (traditional scissor papercutting). These works are narratives, inviting viewers to find stories in my art or to tell their own stories in my handmade books.
For my scissors papercuts, animals are featured in imaginative versions of their natural habitats. “Elephant Family” celebrates the close relationships among these massive animals, which care for each other in life and death.
