Bird’s Nest Coral is from my Enchantment Series which explores the metaphysical and physical nature of an underwater world critical for the survival of our species. My interpretation involves overlapping colors, texture, movement and pattern to manifest the enchantment. In Bird’s Nest the manifestation is the chaotic presence of the nesting of new life.

Bird’s Nest Coral is a mixed media painting on gallery wrap canvas. It has a base layer of acrylic texture, watercolor crayons, charcoal, and graphite that establish the map or architecture of the painting. Next the cool acrylic colors are layered in drips and drizzles to add intricacy and movement. The addition of light and dark shades further enhance the depth, while the gold paint and gold leaf draw the viewer in to the dynamic.
